Great Argentine and Italian restaurant in Huntington Beach
What a lovely experience my husband and I had at Cambalache Grill Argentine & Italian Cuisine the other night. A taste of Argentina right in Huntington Beach, located in a strip plaza on Warner just west of Magnolia.
It is a small restaurant but with high ceilings which gives it a larger feel. The menu is a blend of Argentine and Italian fare. We tried the Argentine dishes, which were delicious, so I can only imagine the Italian food would be as well. There is also a good selection of wines.
Our server, Pedro, who is from Peru, also added to our wonderful experience. He gave great suggestions, was attentive, professional and friendly.

Provoleta del Chef
We started our meal with the Provoleta del Chef which was melted Provolone over Spanish chorizo topped with red bell peppers – a gooey, tasty dish served in a cast iron skillet. It was good eaten on its own, but if your into bread, it’s good smooshed over the fresh baguette slices served with it.
I highly recommend the beef dishes! The meat is seasoned with only sea salt and pepper, but perfectly seasoned, grilled to your liking and served with a delicious garlicky, Chimichurri sauce and a side of your choice.

Good wine selection at reasonable prices
I had the Entrana Cambalache, their grilled skirt steak, with roasted vegetables and my husband had the Bite Ancho, their rib-eye with roasted potatoes. Both were very tender and mouth- watering good!
- Entrana Cambalache, grilled skirt steak with roasted vegetables
- Bife Ancho, Rib-Eye steak, with roasted potatoes
Prices are moderate, great prices for a good steak dinner and the wine list had good wine for reasonable prices – we had a bottle of Daou Cabernet Sauvignon for $35 for the bottle, which complemented the beef very well. The beef dishes started at $21 and up; pasta and chicken dishes were in $14 and up and seafood $19 and up.
I hesitated adding this to Peta-Gaye’s Picks, as this could easily become a regular dining spot for us, and they already seem to have quite the following. I recommend making a reservation, if you want a seat on the weekends!
Buon Appetito!
