Peta-Gaye in Barcelona : Explored & Had Fun Learning Authentic Catalan Tapas Recipes

COOKING IN BARCELONA

I was fortuitous to have an opportunity to travel to Barcelona. Such a beautiful, vibrant city! The beautiful architecture and delicious food reflects the history of this great city. While there I took the opportunity to learn how to cook authentic Catalan tapas. Learned some amazing dishes from Chef Lalo at Barcelona Cooking School.   Menus including delicious Catalan tapas are now another of the possibilities of future catering events!

EXPLORED NEW FLAVOR COMBINATIONS
I was introduced to some new ingredients and experienced some new flavor combinations not only from Chef Lalo but from my exploration of different restaurants while there. Some of my favorite delicious dishes I discovered were …mushroom salad with strawberries in a wasabi vinaigrette, panne tomato, coca bread (similar to mini pizzas) with a variety of toppings, potato bombas, paella, gazpachos, stuffed baby squid in a roasted pepper sauce, pintxos with sobrasada, caramelized pears and goat cheese….all so yummy!  In fact my bookclub has already enjoyed a vegetarian version of the pintxos with soy chorizo, caramelized pears and goat cheese – they were a hit!

SIGHTSEEING  IN BARCELONA
If you have the opportunity I highly recommend visiting Barcelona.  Must see attractions are Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, Parc Guell & Montserrat (a full day venture as located outside the city) and of course the famous las Ramblas and la Boqueria! La Boqueria is a treat for all your senses!
Wander and get lost in the winding intricate streets and alleyways of Barrio Gotico, El Born, Garcia, Eixample and La Barceloneta and discover some interesting shops, cafes, homes, bars and history.  Be adventurous and try new dishes, talk to the locals and most of all have fun!
